I first met Brian in 2006 when Pete and I took on a plot on the Fortis Green Community Allotments site. Brian and Sue's allotment was a near neighbour of ours and I was in awe of their well tended and very productive plot. However, I soon found Brian to be very approachable and easy to discuss ideas with for growing fruit and vegetables and always happy to offer advice if asked. I remember one Saturday morning in 2008 when Brian and Sue told me that they had had a letter from the then site owners, Thames Water, giving notice to quit. This was one of the events responsible for starting the ultimately successful campaign by the allotmenteers to purchase the allotments. Over the years I have had some lovely conversations with Brian at the allotments on many varied topics including the advertising industry, the Lake District, playing Bridge and, of course, allotments. Pete and I will miss you Brian. Rest in peace. Sarah and Peter
