Brian the philatelist

Created by Scott one year ago

I first met Brian via email when he contributed some scans of Canadian postage stamps for my Flyspecker.com website. I also had the pleasure of meeting him in person some years ago at a stamp collectors meet-up in Ottawa. He was a very refined gentlemen with a keen interest in sharing his enthusiasm for the hobby. In recent years I had worked closely with Brian doing some significant philatelic research regarding the Canadian Large Queen stamps of 1868. This was a favourite area of his collecting interests and he possessed a very fine and well presented collection that he was always adding to and improving. Brian and I published several philatelic articles based on our research that were well-received. I last communicated with him via email just over a month ago when he expressed interest in doing some more research. Consequently, I was very surprised and deeply saddened to hear of his passing.

I will remember Brian as a seasoned collector who was always willing to debate theories and share knowledge of our hobby. I will greatly miss our phone and email conversations. Rest in peace my friend.
